Yang Jiechi Meets with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla of Cuba

On April 29, 2019, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla of Cuba in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi expressed that as socialist countries, China and Cuba have always supported and helped each other. The Chinese side firmly supports the Cuban side's legitimate fight for safeguarding national sovereignty and independence. As the next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relationship, the Chinese side is willing to work with the Cuban side to well implement the major consensus reached by the two Heads of State, enhance high-level exchanges, promote the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperation in various fields and strengthen coordination in international affairs to jointly maintain peace and stability of the two countries and regions.

Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla noted that the traditional friendship between Cuba and China has been growing ever stronger and both countries are now striding forward on the path of socialism. The Cuban side is ready to work with the Chinese side to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields to push for greater development of bilateral relations.
